Ionic information, an award winning financial data provider, is creating a new team, based in the heart of Edinburgh, which will complement our existing development team in London.

Our windows-based software is already the market leader in the UK providing stock market data and analysis to private investors. We are now aiming to repeat this success with a new phase of products.

We are seeking a developer with the talent and vision to design and build state-of-the-art web and mobile applications.

Ideally with a computer science background, you must have a passion for programming and web development. A sound knowledge of either C/C++, Java or C# is essential, as is some experience with working at a low-level in these languages.

You should also be skilled in at least some of the following technologies: HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Java Servlets/JSPs, SQL, Flash.

A working experience of AJAX and Comet would also be a plus, as would an interest in existing and emerging web frameworks (e.g. Dojo, jQuery, SproutCore, Cappuccino).

A good numerate science degree (at least 2:1). Strong C/C++ coding skills with at least 2 years commercial C/C++ development experience, ideally using Visual Studio and MFC.

Successful applicants will have a passion for computers with exposure or interest in TCP/IP network programming, an understanding of data compression techniques and an interest in the financial markets.

System administration skills would also be an advantage.

The Role

Ionic Information requires software developers for its award-winning ShareScope stock market analysis software. You will be working mainly in an MS windows environment but are required to be flexible in technology with web development a distinct possibility.

Core Skills

• A good Computer Science or AI degree (at least a 2.1)
• Strong software development and coding skills, preferably using C/C++
• A passion for computers

Other Desirable Skills

• C/C++ Application development using Microsoft Visual Studio and either MFC (Microsoft Foundation Classes) or Win32.
• An understanding of data compression techniques
• An interest in the financial markets and financial calculation
• An interest in GUI design
